How a Gate Motor System Works
Understanding the basics helps you make a better buying decision and spot problems early.
The Motor Drive
The core unit contains an electric motor connected to a gearbox. The gearbox reduces speed and multiplies torque — allowing a compact motor to move a gate weighing hundreds of kilograms smoothly and quietly.
The Control Board
The brain of the system. It receives signals from remotes, keypads, intercoms, and sensors. It controls open/close speed, auto-close timers, obstacle detection response, and access logs.
Safety Sensors
Photocells and safety edges detect obstacles in the gate's path. If anything interrupts the beam or touches the edge, the gate immediately stops and reverses — protecting people, vehicles, and the motor.
Power & Backup
Motors run on 220V AC mains. All quality systems include a battery backup module that allows 50–200 cycles during a power outage — critical for China's unstable power supply.
